Removal


1. Remove the inner CV joint boot. For more information, refer to the Removing and Installing the Inner CV Joint Boot chapter in this section.

2.
CAUTION: Use a vise with jaw guards.


Remove the outer constant velocity joint boot.
  • Remove the cover clamps.
  • Slide the boot inward along the front drive axle shaft.



Installation


1.
CAUTION: Do not pack more than 120 g of grease into the CV joint.


Fill the constant velocity joint with grease.

2. Install the outer constant velocity joint boot.
  • Slide the outer boot outward over the constant velocity joint.
  • Insert a small screwdriver under the edge of the protective cover to release the air.
  • Place the cover in the desired position and remove the screwdriver.
  • Tighten the clamps to 21 Nm.



3.
NOTE: Replace the boot clip.



Install the inner cover clamp using the special tool.



4.
NOTE: Replace the boot clip.

Install the outer cover clamp using the special tool.



5. Install the inner CV joint boot. For more information, refer to the Removing and Installing the Inner CV Joint Boot chapter in this section.
