The gearbox has three shafts, a classic design with four synchronized forward gears and a non-synchronized reverse gear. The gear shift lever is on the floor.

Three versions of a manual four-speed gearbox can be used in cars:
  • type A gearbox in which the clutch housing forms a single unit with the gearbox housing;
  • type B gearbox in which the clutch housing forms an integral part of or is bolted to the gearbox housing;
  • type C gearbox in which the clutch housing is bolted to the gearbox housing.

Identification

Under one of the bolts securing the rear gearbox housing there is a plate on which the gearbox version designation is stamped.

Adjustment data

The axial clearance of the secondary shaft bearing in the rear gearbox housing must be zero; it is adjusted by the thickness of the thrust washer.
