Safety precautions when handling an airbag (Scorpio 2)

            0

Before removing the airbag assembly, disconnect the battery ground (-) wire and insulate the battery negative (-) strip. Then wait at least 15 minutes, otherwise the airbag may deploy spontaneously when the connector is disconnected.

When the battery is disconnected, no one should be in front of the driver's airbag or the passenger's airbag next to the driver.

When removed, always place the inflatable cushion assembly so that its elastic part faces upward.

Do not leave the airbag assembly unattended during breaks in operation.

The airbag unit cannot be repaired and must always be replaced as a whole if faulty. Since the airbag unit contains explosive material, it must be kept locked or under proper supervision. The airbag unit must be disposed of at a service station. Never dispose of the airbag yourself. Explosive hazard!

During long-term vehicle repairs, the dismantled airbag assembly that has not deployed must be kept locked up.

The airbag unit may only be checked in a specialized workshop. Never check with a test lamp, voltmeter or ohmmeter.

Do not treat the cushion assembly with lubricants, cleaning agents or other similar products.

The elastic part of the steering wheel cushion must not be covered with glue, material or subjected to any other influence. It can only be wiped with a dry or water-moistened cloth or cleaned using a cleaning agent approved for use by the vehicle manufacturer.

The airbag assembly and control unit are very sensitive to impacts. If they have fallen from a height of more than 50 cm, they must not be reinstalled. If they have fallen from a lower height, the airbag assembly should be checked at a service station.

If the airbag has deployed as a result of a vehicle collision, all parts must be replaced with new ones (at CTO).

When welding, connect the welding unit terminal directly to the welding site.
