Sequence of tightening the oil pan mounting bolts


1. Clean the contact surfaces of the crankcase and the sump. The grooves in the seal holders must be clean.

2. Install the rubber seals into the grooves of the holders.

3. Apply a layer of sealant to the grooves and install the gasket tabs into the grooves of the rubber seals.

4. Make sure that the holes in the gasket match the holes on the contact surface of the crankcase. Install the pan in place, making sure that the gasket does not shift.

5. Install the pan mounting bolts and tighten them in two steps in accordance with the tightening torques.

6. Install a new gasket on the drive cover and install the water pump. Install the thermostat and thermostat housing. Connect the rear water line pipe.

7. Apply sealant to the crankshaft pulley washer. Install the pulley, washer and mounting bolt. Tighten the bolt to the specified torque.

8. Install all connections and oil pressure monitoring sensors.

9. Install the bypass hose onto the rear coolant pump pipe.

10. If provided by the design, place the oil heat exchanger on the cylinder block together with the new seal, then insert the bushing and tighten it so that the heat exchanger tubes are turned at the desired angle.
