Checking the efficiency of the braking system (Fusion)

It is advisable to check the efficiency of the braking system on special brake stands (similar to those used by the State Traffic Safety Inspectorate during technical inspection of cars), since the car is equipped with an anti-lock braking system, which does not allow braking to the point of wheel skidding (until clear traces of the braking distance are obtained on the asphalt). In extreme cases, an approximate comprehensive assessment of the braking system can be performed on a flat horizontal area closed to traffic.

Accelerate the vehicle without a load (only the driver in the cabin) in 1st gear to a speed of approximately 15 km/h. Press the brake pedal sharply and do not release it until the vehicle comes to a complete stop.

If the car skids when braking, get out of the car and examine the marks left by the wheels. The brake mark of a working wheel with an anti-lock system is very small and almost invisible, since the wheel does not slip, but rolls on the verge of breaking into a skid.

If any wheel clearly shows a visible brake trace of its locking, contact a car service: the anti-lock system is faulty.

If the brake marks of all wheels are visible but not very noticeable (there are no clear marks left by the sliding tire) and the length of all marks on the left and right is the same, the brake system is in good condition. Otherwise, repair the system.
