The Focus's iB5 manual transmission features a cable-operated gearshift mechanism.
The gear shift cable is marked in white, the gear selector cable is marked in black.
Disconnect the cables from the gearbox and gear shift lever by turning both sections of the support ring counterclockwise. Since the shift and selector cables use the same bushing through which they pass through the floor, they can only be replaced in pairs.
The gearshift mechanism is adjusted using a 3 mm drill bit inserted into the gearshift lever and the gear selector cable on the gearbox. The gearshift cable cannot be adjusted.
