Since troubleshooting actually begins with the start of repairs, the following procedure is recommended:

1. Check if the customer's complaint is clear to you. If necessary, reproduce the problematic condition on the vehicle.

2. If the problem cannot be reproduced, perform a road test and/or a visual inspection using the following table:

Mechanical factors:
  • Visibly damaged or worn components
  • Loose or missing bolts and nuts

3. If the visual inspection clearly identifies a problem, it should be corrected and then the system should be checked to see if it is operating properly.

4. If the problem cannot be clearly identified, use the Symptoms Table to identify the problem.

Go to A2

A2:

1Disconnect the selector and shift cables from the transmission.

• Is the gear shift lever difficult to operate?

Yes

Replace the gear selector and shift cables.

No

There is a problem in the transmission. For more information, refer to Section 308-03A / 308-03B / 308-03C.
