Removal


1. Remove the timing belt.

2. Remove the pulley from the crankshaft.

CAUTION: To facilitate subsequent installation, mark the location of all spacer shims installed between the transaxle and the lower case. When installing the oil pump, spacer shims should be installed in their original locations.


Remove the lower crankcase (for clarity, the engine is shown removed).
  • 1.Remove the oil intake pipe.
  • 2. Unscrew the lower crankcase mounting bolts.
  • Discard the gasket as it is no longer needed.

8. Remove the accessory drive belt tensioner.

9. Remove the oil pump (the engine is shown removed for clarity). Discard the gasket as unnecessary.

Installation


1.
NOTE: Install a new oil pump gasket.


NOTE: Do not fully tighten the oil pump mounting bolts at this stage.

2. Adjust the position of the oil pump on both sides so that the mating surface is located 0.3 mm - 0.8 mm above the lower edge of the cylinder block.

4. Install the accessory drive belt tensioner.

CAUTION: Make sure all spacer shims installed between the transaxle and the lower case are installed in their original positions.


NOTE: Tighten the transaxle bolts first.


NOTE: Install a new lower crankcase gasket.


Install the lower crankcase (for clarity, the engine is shown removed).
  • 1. Tighten the bolts.
  • 2. Install the oil pump intake pipe.

6. Install the oil pan. For more information, refer to the Oil Pan chapter in this section.



7. Install the intermediate shaft intermediate support bracket.
