Removal
1. Remove the oil pan see section 12.
2. Unscrew the oil pump mounting bolts and remove the oil pump with the intermediate drive shaft.
Installation
3. Prime the oil pump by filling it with engine oil through the inlet port. Rotate the pump shaft until oil flows out of the outlet port.
4. Insert the intermediate drive shaft into the oil pump. Install the pump and drive shaft as a single unit.
Caution: Do not attempt to push the pump if it does not snap into place. The drive shaft and camshaft may be out of alignment. To align the end of the drive shaft with the distributor head, remove the oil pump and rotate the intermediate drive shaft a few degrees, then repeat the procedure.
5. Tighten the two oil pump mounting bolts to the specified torque.
6. Install the oil pan according to section 12.
7. Fill the crankcase to the required level with the recommended engine oil (if necessary) see chapter 1).
8. Run the engine at high speed and check for possible oil leaks.
