Exhaust manifold — removal and installation (Focus 1)

Removal

1. Remove the dipstick and oil level indicator tube.



2. Remove the radiator fan and associated shroud. Refer to Section 303-03 for additional information.

3. Remove the lower exhaust manifold heat shield mounting bolts.



4. Disconnect the exhaust manifold from the catalytic converter.



5. Lower the vehicle.



6. Remove the exhaust system heat shield.



7. Remove the exhaust manifold.

• Remove the exhaust manifold by pointing it downwards.
• Discard the gaskets as they are no longer needed.

Installation

1.

NOTE: Install new exhaust manifold gaskets.

Install the elements back in place in reverse order.
