Never tighten the V-belt on the belt pulley with a screwdriver. Otherwise, as a result of kinks in the V-belt frame, you will already program its subsequent damage. After installation, let the used V-belt run for 3 minutes in place (with a new V-belt, about 10 minutes) and check the pre-tension again. After about 1000 km of running, check its tension again (3-5 mm).
Stages of work
Loosen the clamp bolt on the generator tension bracket.
Loosen the bolts on the swivel support.
Tilt the generator towards the engine.
Replace the old belt with a new one.
Carry out installation in reverse order.
If the V-belt breaks
If the red charging light comes on while driving, it means that the V-belt has broken. Often you will notice a hard impact on the wheel well or on the front part of the body in the engine compartment. You should not continue driving under any circumstances. Since the V-belt drives the water pump, the circulation of the coolant stops, the stationary coolant quickly boils in the engine block, and you risk total engine damage. Therefore, immediately install a spare V-belt or have the car towed to the nearest workshop.
