Engine repair in the workshop or do it yourself?

Despite their solid construction, Focus engines are, of course, not exempt from occasional nasty defects. Extensive repairs and precise installation work must be left to the workshop. Trained people in blue have the necessary detailed and professional knowledge, they have experience and, as a rule, a lot of special tools in order to «put on your feet» focus. An unprofessionally replaced timing belt by an amateur can, for example, cause severe damage to pistons and valves. Therefore, do not take on the repair of the cylinder head gasket and valves, repairing the crank mechanism is also beyond the power of an amateur.

If you're not completely sure you can professionally handle or test your engine's internals, keep your toolbox locked for the benefit of your own wallet. Nevertheless, the engine compartment should not remain a restricted area for you: you will have a sufficient amount of control and maintenance work that is more expedient to do on your own.
