The intake and exhaust manifold, oil pan and cylinder head gaskets are accessible with the engine not removed. External engine parts - intake and exhaust manifolds, oil pan (and pump), water pump, starter, alternator, ignition distributor and fuel injection system - can be removed for repair without removing the engine itself.

Since the cylinder head can be removed without touching the engine, the valves can also be serviced in the same position.
