Removing the brake booster (Focus Turnier 1)

Before removing the master cylinder, make sure there is no vacuum in the brake booster. To do this, either disconnect the vacuum line from the brake booster or press the brake pedal several times with the engine not running.

Dismantling



Remove the brake master cylinder as described above. The brake fluid reservoir can remain on the master cylinder.

For models with ESP, disconnect the brake booster solenoid valve connector

Disconnect the hydraulic control module (HCU) connector. Loosen the fastening first.

Remove the brake pipes on the hydraulic control unit (HCU). To prevent fluid loss or contamination, seal the brake pipes with rubber caps.

Remove the hydraulic control module HCU.

Remove the brake pipes.

Remove the brake booster push rod.

Loosen the brake booster bolts (arrows).

Remove the brake booster.

Installation



The brake booster push rod should be located in the rubber cuff on the front wall without tension. Correctly install the sealing ring on the brake booster, if necessary, fix it with Vaseline.

Assemble the structural elements in reverse order.



Bleed the brake system as described above.
