Replacement materials: Automatic transmission fluid (ATF) specification FORD ESPM-2C-166H.

Examination

Warm up the car engine to normal operating temperature while driving the car over a distance of approximately 15 km.

Check the level in the power steering expansion tank immediately after stopping the engine.

Check the level in the power steering expansion tank immediately after stopping the engine.

Unscrew the lid of the expansion tank and wipe the level indicator on it with a clean, lint-free cloth.

Put the expansion tank cap back in place and unscrew it again. The oil level should be between the lower and upper marks on the indicator.

If necessary, top up the oil level in the reservoir. The level should be topped up only with automatic transmission oil of the FORD ESP M-2C-166H specification.

Be sure to add only new oil, as even the slightest contamination can lead to a malfunction of the hydraulic system.

After refilling the oil level in the tank, start the engine and, with the engine running, turn the steering wheel several times in different directions until it stops. This automatically removes air from the system.

If the oil level needs to be topped up, the hydraulic system of the power steering gear should be checked for leaks.
