Checking the battery

Required special tool:
  • Acid-resistant grease, e.g. BOSCH pole grease.
  • Steel wire brush (brush for cleaning poles and terminals).
  • Densimeter.

Required consumables: Distilled water.

Cleaning the battery poles

When servicing the vehicle, it is also necessary to clean the poles and terminals of the battery and lightly lubricate them with acid-resistant grease.

Checking the electrolyte level

In commercially installed batteries, one-time filling with electrolyte is usually sufficient for the entire service life. However, the electrolyte level should be monitored regularly.

Attention: Do not illuminate the battery with naked flames. Explosive!

Unscrew the battery plugs with a large screwdriver or a coin and check the electrolyte level.

The electrolyte level in each individual cell should be approximately 10 mm above the lead plates. If the level is too low, top up the electrolyte level to the prescribed value.

Caution: Use only distilled water to top up the level.

Screw in the battery plugs and tighten firmly.
