Removal and installation of window glass (Scorpio I)

Withdrawal

Remove door trim see p. 135.

Open the door and use a Phillips screwdriver to unscrew the screw securing the outer rubber seal of the door shaft on the side of the locking mechanism. At the rear door, unscrew the second fastening screw from the side of the front edge of the door.

Raise the rubber seal on the side of the locking mechanism and carefully remove it from the door.

Remove the black plastic clips from the door edge. Carefully peel off the protective film.

Attention: The film tears very easily.

While firmly holding the window pane, unscrew the two screws -A- securing the pane to the lifting mechanism. Lower the window glass carefully.



Front door: Remove bolt -A- for front guide.




Rear door: Remove the two bolts -arrows- securing the rear window guide and remove the guide.



By turning the window glass, disconnect it from the guide and, as shown in the figure, remove it from the door.

Installation

Insert the window glass into the door and into the guide.

Rear door: fit the guide and screw it with two bolts.

Front door: fit and tighten the bolt of the front guide.

Attention: The position of the window glass guides is adjustable. Check if the window pane opens and closes easily after tightening the rail fixing bolts. If the window pane is hard to move, try adjusting the front guide first. If this is not enough, adjust with the mounting bolts (shown by arrows in figure F-48119) rear guide position.

Raise the window glass with the lifting mechanism and insert both screws securing the glass to the lifting mechanism. Insert the screws so that they go into the longitudinal hole of the lifting mechanism from below.

Position the outer rubber seal in the installation position - if necessary, press under the trim - and carefully press it into the door frame with your palms.

Fit and tighten the fixing screws.

Glue the protective film without wrinkles.

Seal the torn places with a wide adhesive tape.

Attention: If the protective film is not glued correctly, a draft will occur in the passenger compartment when the car is moving.
