Removal and installation of a cover of a luggage compartment (Scorpio II)

A car with a pronounced angle between the rear window and the luggage compartment.

Withdrawal

Disconnect ground wire (-) battery.

Caution: Disconnecting the battery will erase the contents of the electronic memories, such as engine trouble codes or radio codes. Before switching off, also read the instructions in chapter "Removing and installing the battery".

Open the luggage compartment lid.



Remove trim from luggage compartment lid. To do this, release the 2 swivel clips -1- and press out the 9 clips -2- using a suitable fork.



Slide the hinge cover up and remove from the end of the hinge.

Mark the mounting position of the hinges with a felt-tip pen. To do this, circle the hinges on the lid around the perimeter with a felt-tip pen.


Disconnect 3 plug connectors (one - the lock of the central locking system, two - rear lights). To facilitate subsequent assembly, pre-mark the wires with adhesive tape.

Tie a strong cord securely to the end of each wiring harness and pull the wiring harnesses out of the trunk lid like this. to keep the lines visible.

Untie the cords from the wiring harnesses. The cords must remain in the luggage compartment lid to facilitate its subsequent installation.

Support the lid with a suitable board or wooden stand.

Remove the hinge bolts and remove the luggage compartment lid. An assistant is required to perform the operation. Before loosening the hinge bolts, place a cloth between the cover and the rear window pane as protection.

Installation

Together with an assistant, place the luggage compartment lid in the installation position and align, screw in the mounting bolts and tighten them by hand.

Align the cover at the hinges in accordance with the marked marks and tighten the fastening bolts to a torque of 10 Nm.

Tie the cords in the cover to the wiring harnesses and carefully pull the harnesses through the cover. Secure the wiring harnesses with clamps and connect the plug connectors.

Put the covers on the hinges. Install trim for rear lid, see illustration at beginning of chapter.

Close the rear lid carefully and check that the gap between the lid and adjacent parts is equal and even. If necessary, slightly loosen the cover fixing bolts and move the cover accordingly.

Connect ground wire (-) battery.

If available, set the clock and enter the anti-theft code for the radio.
