1. Disconnect the ground wire from the battery.

2. Drain the coolant from the cooling system.

3. Remove the air filter, disconnect the pipes and rods from the carburetor and intake manifold.

4. Disconnect the electrical wires from the carburetor and cylinder head.

5. Disconnect the high voltage wires from the spark plugs and remove the high voltage distributor.

6. Disconnect the coolant lines from the carburetor starter chamber, the upper hose from the radiator, and the expansion tank hose from the cylinder head.

7. Disconnect the exhaust inlet pipe from the exhaust manifold (3 nuts).

8. Remove the timing belt protective cover (3 bolts) and the cylinder head cover (10 bolts) together with its seal.

9. Set piston 1 of cylinder to top dead center by turning the crankshaft by the bolt securing the V-belt pulley in the direction of working rotation until the top dead center mark aligns with the mark on the front crankshaft sealing ring casing, and the mark on the camshaft pulley aligns with the mark on the cylinder head. Mark the position of the distributor rotor in relation to the distributor housing, for which remove the distributor cover by lifting the 2 side mounting brackets with a screwdriver and unscrewing the 2 cover mounting screws.

10. Unscrew the fastening of the timing belt tensioner (tool 21.012), loosen it and tighten it in this position.

11. Remove the timing belt.

12. Unscrew the spark plugs and also unscrew the cylinder head bolts (tool 21.002) in the opposite order to their tightening.

13. Remove the cylinder head from the engine block.

Attention! Do not place the cylinder head with its lower plane on a horizontal surface, as this may damage the valves protruding below the plane. The cylinder head should be placed on two wooden blocks so that the valve plates do not touch anything.
