Removal and installation of the oil pump

            0

The oil pump is removed for replacement when its supply decreases, causing a constant drop in oil pressure in the engine lubrication system, as well as when oil leaks through the sealing surfaces of the pump housing and cylinder block. Spare parts supply only the pump assembly, so this subsection only describes the removal and installation of the pump.

You will need: all the tools needed to remove the timing belt and engine oil sump, as well as a socket «on 10».

1. Disconnect the wire from the terminal «minus» battery.

2. Drain the oil from the engine oil sump (cm. «Changing engine oil and oil filter»).

3. Remove the timing belt (cm. «Replacing the timing belt»).

WARNING: After removing the timing belt, it is forbidden to turn the camshafts and crankshafts, as the valves may be damaged by the pistons.

4. Remove the crankshaft sprocket (pic. 5.18).

5. Turn out four bolts of fastening of the compressor of the conditioner (pic. 5.19) and move the compressor away from the engine without disconnecting the pipelines from it.

6. Remove the engine oil sump (cm. «Replacing the oil sump seal»).

7. Turn out a bolt and (pic. 5.20) fastening the oil receiver 2 to the oil pump and remove the oil receiver and the gasket installed under its flange.

WARNING: Replace the oil receiver flange gasket with a new one each time it is removed, as the oil pump flow may drop sharply due to a leak in the connection.

USEFUL ADVICE: Whenever removing the oil receiver, be sure to wash its grid from varnish deposits from oil with gasoline or kerosene.

8. Remove seven bolts (shown by arrows in fig. 5.20) fastening the oil pump 1 to the cylinder block and, prying the pump with two screwdrivers, remove it from the mounting bushings in the cylinder block.

9. Remove the sealing gasket installed under the flange of the oil pump housing.

WARNING: Replace the oil pump housing gasket with a new one each time the pump is removed.

GOOD HINT: Replace the crankshaft front oil seal every time you remove the pump (cm. «Replacing the crankshaft seals»).

10. Install the pump in the reverse order of removal, and tighten the bolts of its fastening evenly crosswise to a torque of 9 Nm (0.9 kgf·m).

11. Install all previously removed parts and fill the engine with oil.

USEFUL ADVICE: When installing a new oil pump, we recommend replacing the oil filter.
