Disconnection

WARNING: Do not smoke or allow a lit cigarette or open flame of any kind to be present when working on or near fuel related items. In such situations, there are always highly flammable mixtures that can ignite. Failure to follow these instructions may result in injury.

WARNING: After the ignition is switched off, the fuel supply system remains pressurized for an extended period of time. Depressurize the fuel system before beginning any repair. Failure to follow these instructions may result in injury.

WARNING: This procedure is related to fuel handling. Always be aware of the possibility of fuel splashing and observe fuel handling precautions. Failure to follow these instructions may result in injury.

1. Relieve pressure in the fuel system. For more information, refer to the Fuel System Pressure Relief chapter found in this section.

2. Install the special tool on the fuel line.

3.
NOTE: Both sides of the spring-lock fuel line must be pressed together to allow the special tool to release the locking elements of the spring-lock coupling.

Slide the special tool inside the spring lock sleeve to open the locking tabs.

4. Disconnect the fuel line from the spring-lock coupling.
  • Let the fuel drain into a suitable container.

5. Remove safety clips from couplings with spring locks of a fuel highway.

6. Install the special tool on top of the fuel line spring coupler.

7. Close and push the spring-lock fuel line coupling tool into the open side of the cage.

8. Disconnect the spring coupler of the fuel line.

9. Remove the special tool.
