Disconnection


WARNING: Do not smoke or allow a lighted cigarette or open flame of any type when working on or near fuel-related components. Highly flammable mixtures are always present in such situations and may ignite. Failure to follow these instructions may result in injury.


WARNING: The fuel system remains under pressure for an extended period of time after the ignition is turned off. Relieve the pressure in the fuel system before attempting any repairs. Failure to follow these instructions may result in personal injury.


WARNING: This procedure involves handling fuel. Always be prepared for possible fuel splashing and follow fuel handling precautions. Failure to follow these instructions may result in personal injury.


1. Relieve the fuel system pressure. For more information, refer to the Relieving Fuel System Pressure section in this section.



2. Install the special tool on the fuel line.

NOTE: Both sides of the fuel line with the spring lock coupling must be pressed together to allow the special tool to release the retaining members of the spring lock coupling.


Slide the special tool into the spring-loaded coupling to release the locking tabs.

4. Disconnect the fuel line from the spring lock coupling.
  • Allow the fuel to drain into a suitable container.

5. Remove the safety clamps from the fuel line spring lock couplings.

6. Install the special tool over the fuel line spring lock coupling.

7. Close and push the spring-lock fuel line coupling tool into the open side of the collar.

8. Disconnect the coupling from the fuel line spring lock.

9. Remove the special tool.

Installation

NOTE: Make sure the tab on the fuel line is fully inserted into the spring lock coupling and a distinct click is heard.
