2. Release the coil spring. Disconnect connectors 1 (pic. 13.27) (if possible, do not stretch the connecting wire) and take the three latches 2 out of the holes.

3. Remove the coil spring from the steering wheel hub.

4. Center the new coil spring before installation. To do this, push down the locking lug 1 (pic. 13.28) and while holding it down, turn it to the left (arrow 2) inner rotor as far as it will go against the outer rotor. Then turn the inner rotor about 3/4 turn to the right and, while holding it in this position, release the locking tab. Make sure the inner rotor clicks into place.

5. Insert the centered spring into the steering wheel hub and secure with three clips.

6. Connect the connectors, install the steering wheel on the steering column according to the previously made marks. Be sure to ensure that the spring retaining tabs snap into place on the steering wheel lock retainer pin.

PRACTICAL ADVICE

Airbag

Strict safety regulations must also be followed during transport, storage and handling of the airbag: in an emergency explosive process, the gas generator inflates the airbag, so it is subject to explosives legislation. Ford factories and service centers operate airbags with specially trained personnel, so we do not advise you to carry out work related to airbag removal yourself. Contact only a service center or a specialized car workshop.
