Replacing the steering rod mudguards (Fiesta 4)

            0

SEQUENCE OF WORKS

1. Unscrew the steering rod end, accurately counting the thread turns (or turns when removing).

2. Loosen and remove the protective cover clamps.

3. Pull off the corrugated mudguard.

4. Before installation, clean the steering rod and lubricate it with a thin layer of grease.

5. Carefully pull the mudguard onto the steering rod. Make sure that the mudguard is not twisted and sits correctly in the grooves of the steering rod and the toothed rack housing. Otherwise, the tightness of the mudguard may be compromised, which will lead to damage to the steering mechanism.

6. Secure the mudguard with clamps.

7. Install the tie rod end. Tighten the new self-locking nut to 35 N·m.

8. Check the front wheel alignment and steering position, and have it adjusted at a workshop if necessary.
