Replacing the rubber boots of the steering gear (Mondeo 1 and 2)

            0

1. Remove the end piece and its lock nut from the transverse steering rod (paragraph 35). The end piece and rod must have marks for subsequent correct installation in order to maintain the front wheel alignment angles.

2. Disconnect the boot from the steering gear housing. To do this, release it from the clamp and plastic tape installed on its ends.

3. Disconnect the breather from the boot, then pull the boot off the rod. Scrape out the old grease from the boot. Wipe the seating surfaces on the steering gear housing and the steering rod.

5. Pull the new boot over the rod and steering gear housing. Install the breather.

6. Install the new plastic tape and new clamp.

7. Install the tie rod end (paragraph 35).

8. Check and adjust the front wheel alignment angles as soon as possible (paragraph 36).
