Replacing the rubber protective covers of the steering gear (Escort 5)

Unscrew the tie rod end and lock nut from the tie rod. Remove the clamps and pull the protective cover off the steering gear and tie rod (see Fig. 10.50).



Clean the steering gear and steering rod from old grease. Slide the new protective boot onto the steering gear housing and steering rod and secure with clamps.

Install the tie rod end.
