Rear Suspension Coil Spring (Station wagon)

Warning: before. how to remove the spring, prepare a device for compressing coil springs. Do not use improvised tools as this may cause the spring to pop out and cause injury. After removing the spring with the tool, leave it in the tool in a safe, closed place.

Withdrawal


1. Support the front wheels with wedges. Then lift the back of the car and place it on supports. Remove the corresponding rear wheel.

2. Install a mobile jack under the lower rear suspension arm (at the location of the spring) to keep the spring compressed.

3. Place the compressor on the coil spring and compress it to release the top support.

4. Turn away a nut and remove a washer and the plug from a junction of the stabilizer of cross-section stability and the back lower arm.

5. Turn away a bolt of fastening of the back lower arm to an axis support (see fig. 21.5).



6. Turn out a bolt of fastening of the forward lower lever to an axis support (see fig. 21.6).



7. Lower the rear lower arm and pull the coil spring out from under the vehicle. Make sure that the compressor securely fixes the spring (see fig. 21.7).




8. If you install a new spring, then the old one can be released from the compressor. If you install it again, leave the spring compressed.

Installation


9. Installation - in the reverse order of removal. The spring must be correctly installed in the upper and lower supports (see fig. 21.9). The lower control arm bolts must be fully tightened only after the suspension has been loaded. Finally, check and adjust the toe-in of the rear wheels (paragraph 36).
