2. Using a jack stand, support the rear lower arm (under the spring).
3. Remove the bolt securing the rear shock absorber to the axle support.
4. Disconnect the ABS sensor (if equipped) from the torque arm.
5. Disconnect the handbrake cable from the torque arm bracket.
6. Disconnect the handbrake cable from the rear brake shoes or brake caliper (see chapter 9). Pull the cable through the hole in the reaction arm.
7. Unscrew the three bolts securing the reaction arm to the axle support (see Fig. 25.7).
8. Unscrew the bolts of the torque arm bracket from the bottom and pull the unit out from under the car (see Fig. 25.8, a, b).
9. Install a vice on the bracket. Remove the bolt and separate the reaction arm from the bracket.
10. If the rubber bushing is worn out, you will have to replace the entire reaction arm.
Installation
11. Installation - in the reverse order of removal. Tighten the bolts securing the lever to the bracket to the required torque only after loading the suspension with the weight of the car. Finally, check the operation of the handbrake.
