Removal


1. Support the front wheels, lift the rear of the car and place it on supports at a height that allows you to remove the beam. Remove both rear wheels.

2. Disconnect the cables from the front section of the handbrake cable (chapter 9).

3. Remove the ABS sensors (if any) from the rear axle supports. Release the sensor wiring from the clips (chapter 9).

4. Disconnect the brake hoses from the brackets on both sides of the beam (chapter 9).

5. Remove the torque arm bracket bolts from the underbody on each side of the vehicle.

6. Support the beam with a mobile jack.

7. Unscrew the bolts and remove the beam (see Fig. 26.7, a, b).

8. If necessary, remove the suspension components from the beam (see the relevant paragraph of this chapter).



Installation


9. Installation - in the reverse order of removal, taking into account the following:
  • a) Install the beam on the guide pins (see Fig. 26.9).
  • b) Tighten the mounting bolts only after the suspension has been loaded by the weight of the vehicle.
