Check, removal and installation of the ABS wheel sensor

            0

Examination

1. Before removing, check the wheel sensors with a voltmeter, which must be connected to the sensor's electrical connector. At the same time, an analog voltmeter is inconvenient, since it does not work fast enough. It is recommended to use a digital voltmeter that has an AC voltage control mode.

2. Raise the appropriate wheel, disconnect the sensor wiring, and connect a voltmeter to the sensor block.

3. Turn the wheel to control the voltage. Depending on the speed, the readings should correspond to 1.5...2.0 V.

4. Another control method is also possible using an oscilloscope, the screen of which displays an increase in the amplitude of alternating current oscillations depending on the speed of the wheel.

5. If the sensor voltage is close to zero, replace it.

Withdrawal

Front wheel sensor

6. Apply the parking brake, raise the front end and place it on supports. Remove the corresponding wheel.

7. Turn out a fixing bolt of the gauge located on a rotary fist and remove the gauge (see fig. 21.7).

8. Remove the sensor wiring harness from the support brackets on the front suspension strut and wheel arch.

9. Pull out the retainers and remove the slotted head screws and the screw retainers holding the wheel arch locker. Remove the locker.

10. Disconnect the electrical connector and remove the sensor and wiring harness.

Rear wheel sensor

11. Chock the front wheels and engage first gear or select "R". Raise the rear of the car and place it on stands. Remove the corresponding wheel.

12. Turn out a fixing bolt of the gauge located on a back board of a brake (drum brake) or rear axle support (disc brake). Remove the sensor.

13. On models with disc brakes, pull out the retainer and remove the slotted head screws and the screw retainers holding the locker. Remove the locker.

14. Disconnect the sensor wiring from the rear suspension strut (or rear axle supports) and wheel arch.

15. Remove the rear seat cushion from inside the vehicle. Then disconnect the sensor wiring harness connector (see fig. 21.15).

16. Pull out the sensor and wiring harness through the rubber grommet in the passenger compartment floor.
