Removal and installation of a cross-beam of a back suspension bracket

It is more convenient to remove the rear suspension cross member on a lift. If it is not possible to put the car on a lift, raise the rear of the car.

USEFUL ADVICE: It is necessary to remove the rear suspension cross member with assistants who will hold and lower it.

You will need a socket «at 15».

1. Remove rear wheels.



2. Remove the rear suspension spring (cm. «Replacing the rear suspension spring»).

3. Remove both rear brake hoses (cm. «Replacement of brake hoses»).



4. Bend the retainer with a screwdriver..



5.... and disconnect the parking brake cable.




6. Turn out a bolt of fastening …



7.... and disconnect the parking brake cable from the trailing arm.



8. Turn out two screws of fastening …



9.... and remove the protective shield.


10. Disconnect from holders on the lever a plait of wires of the gauge of frequency of rotation of a wheel (on vehicles equipped with ABS).



11. Pry off with a screwdriver and remove the suspension cushion of the exhaust system from the rear suspension cross member bracket.



12. Squeeze the latch..



13.... and disconnect the pipeline leading to the intake pipe from the adsorber of the evaporative emission system.




14. Similarly disconnect the pipeline of ventilation of a fuel tank.



15. Squeeze the latch..



16.... and disconnect the canister ventilation hose.



17. Establish under a crossbar hydraulic racks.


18. Turn out on two bolts of fastening of arms of trailing arms of a back suspension bracket to a body.



19. Turn out on three bolts of fastening of a crossbeam to a body on both sides of the car …



20.... and remove the rear suspension cross member by lowering it on the uprights.

21. Install the rear suspension cross member in the reverse order of removal. Finally tighten the cross member bolt nuts with the vehicle on the ground.

22. After installing the beam, bleed the brake system (cm. «Bleeding the hydraulic drive of the brake system» and if necessary, adjust the parking brake actuator (cm. «Parking brake actuator adjustment»).
