Removal and installation of a rack of a forward suspension bracket

Raise the front of the car on stands and remove the wheel. Lock the wheel drive shaft. Loosen the bolt securing the strut to the steering knuckle. Insert special tool 14.026 into the gap between the jaws of the steering knuckle and turn it by 90°. press the steering knuckle until the suspension strut comes out of it (pic. 4.7).



Unscrew the bolts securing the upper support and remove the rack assembly. Start the installation by attaching the top support of the rack. Then, using tool 14.026, install the strut in the steering knuckle and tighten the mounting bolt. Install the wheel and lower the car.

For vehicles manufactured from March 1983, after blocking the drive shaft, remove the cable coupling and brake hose from the suspension strut bracket.

NOTE: Do not move the knuckle more than necessary to avoid damage to the driveshaft pivot.


Remove the washers and bolts securing the upper strut support to the fender panel. For cars. manufactured after May 1983, remove the cover, unscrew the top nut and remove the bulge washer (rice. 4.4).

Remove strut and spring. After installing the strut, attach the brake hose and cable bushing to the strut bracket. Lower the car to the ground and tighten the strut mounting bolts, while holding the stem from turning with a 6 mm hexagon. If necessary, install a cap on the end of the rod.
