Loosen the upper support mounting bolts and remove the strut assembly. Start installation by fastening the upper strut support. Then, using tool 14.026, install the strut into the steering knuckle and tighten the mounting bolt. Install the wheel and lower the vehicle.
For vehicles produced since March 1983, after locking the drive shaft, remove the cable coupling and brake hose from the suspension strut bracket.
NOTE: Do not move the steering knuckle more than necessary to avoid damage to the drive shaft joint.
Remove the washers and bolts securing the upper strut mount to the fender panel. For vehicles manufactured after May 1983, remove the cover, unscrew the upper nut and remove the convex washer (fig. 4.4).
Remove the strut and spring. After installing the strut, secure the brake hose and cable bushing to the strut bracket. Lower the car to the ground and tighten the strut mounting bolts, while holding the rod from turning with a 6 mm Allen key. If necessary, install a cap on the end of the rod.
