After removing the suspension strut, compress the spring with a special device until the upper strut mount is released. Holding the shock absorber piston rod with a 6 mm Allen key, unscrew the rod nut. Remove the upper strut support and spring.
Assemble the suspension strut in the reverse order of disassembly. Release the spring with a special device, making sure that the ends of the spring enter the sockets.
The upper support of cars produced before and after May 1983 is shown in fig. 4.4. Remove the thrust washer from the shock absorber rod of all car models except the carburetor "XR3".
