The struts and anti-roll bar are attached to the aluminum crossmember. The reinforced anti-roll bar with a diameter of 25.5 mm is attached to the crossmember and the struts (Fig. 4.3.).

The suspension elements are also reinforced, and the lower spring support cup, and with it the entire car, have been lowered by 23 mm. The shock absorbers are adjustable. The spring mark is yellow-gray-green.

Since the beginning of 1983, on Escort vehicles with GLA, GMA and GPA engines, the bushings and rubber-metal hinges of the struts have been changed.

Since May 1983, the rubber-metal hinges on Escort cars have become more elastic. In case of replacement of hinges, only new ones should be installed on both sides of the car. In addition, the upper mount of the telescopic strut has been changed (Fig. 4.4), and the attachment points are located on the inside.

The steering knuckles have also been changed, the trunnion lever has been extended by 7.3 mm, which means that the force applied to the steering wheel is reduced. The steering knuckles of the old and new models are not interchangeable. On Escort vehicles with GLA, GMA and GPA engines, the struts have been replaced by a system for installing the suspension elements in the longitudinal direction using a stabilizer bar. as in other Escort models.
