Removal and installation of the stabilizer bar

Raise the front of the car on stands Unscrew the bolts of the brackets securing the anti-roll bar to the body, then unscrew the nuts 1 (fig 4.8). remove the washers 2. split bushings 3 securing the stabilizer to the suspension arms and remove the anti-roll bar 6. To install the stabilizer, insert its ends into the suspension arms, install the split bushings, washers with the curved side to the bushings and screw the nuts without tightening them.

Fasten the stabilizer bar to the body, lower the car, tighten the bolts of the stabilizer mounting brackets to a torque of 4.5-5.6 kgf·m and bend the edges of the lock washers on the verge of the bolts. Tighten the nuts securing the stabilizer to the suspension arms.

On cars manufactured from March 1983, after releasing the ends of the stabilizer bar, remove the bolt securing one of the suspension arms to the car body. Remove the stabilizer bushings and lubricate the stabilizer bar to improve the rotation of the bar in the bushings. Install bushings.

Install the threaded end of the rod with a left-hand thread on the right side. After the end of the stabilizer bar is secured in the suspension arm, secure the disconnected suspension arm to the body.
