NOTE: It is more convenient to perform the work on a lift.
You will need: wrenches (or socket heads) "10", "13", "21", TORX T25, a flat-blade screwdriver, a container for collecting the power steering fluid, a puller for pressing out silent blocks.
1. Set the steering wheel to a position corresponding to straight-line movement of the vehicle.
2. In the passenger compartment, under the instrument panel, loosen the nut of the terminal connection of the steering shaft to the steering gear shaft and disconnect the shafts.
3. Place wheel chocks under the rear wheels, lift the front of the vehicle and remove the front wheels.
4. Press the outer tie rod end joint pins out of the steering knuckle arms (see "Replacing the Outer Tie Rod End").
5. Press the ball joint pin out of the steering knuckle (see "Replacing the ball joint").
6. Pry it up with a screwdriver…
7. …and remove the left exhaust system suspension cushion from the front suspension crossmember bracket.
8. Similarly, remove the right exhaust system suspension cushion from the front suspension crossmember bracket.
9. Loosen the stabilizer bar pin mounting nut, holding the pin from turning…
10. …and disconnect the stabilizer bar hinge pin from the stabilizer bar.
11. Place a support (e.g. hydraulic stand or jack) under the front suspension crossmember.
12. Unscrew the two bolts securing the crossmember bracket to the body…
13. …one bolt securing the bracket to the crossbar…
14. …remove the bolt and remove the crossmember bracket.
15. Remove the second crossmember bracket in the same way.
16. Remove the upper bolts securing the front suspension crossmember to the body…
17. …and extract them.
18. Remove the screw securing the tube holder…
19. …and move the holder with the tubes away from the steering gear.
20. Unscrew the tube retainer mounting bolt…
21. …move the locking device…
22. …disconnect the pipes from the steering gear and drain the power steering fluid from them or plug them with plugs.
NOTE: The connection of the tubes to the steering gear is sealed with rubber rings.
NOTE: Replace rings with new ones each time the connection is disconnected.
23. Remove the front suspension crossmember assembly with the lower arms, steering gear and stabilizer bar by lowering it down. If necessary, remove the stabilizer bar (see "Replacing the front suspension stabilizer bar components"), steering gear (see "Replacing the steering gear") and lever (see "Replacing the front suspension arm").
24. If replacement is necessary, install a puller and press out the silent block of the front suspension crossmember, remembering the position in which it was installed.
25. Press in the new silent block.
26. Install the parts in the reverse order of removal. Tighten the bolts to the torque specified in Appendix 1.
27. Bleed the power steering system (see "Bleeding the power steering system").
28. Check and, if necessary, adjust the wheel alignment angles in a workshop with special equipment.
