Front shock absorber and coil spring unit — removal and installation

Warning: If suspension or steering fasteners are lost or unscrewed, they must be replaced with new ones, do not reuse them. Fasteners are replaced with new ones of the same design, quality and marking.

Withdrawal


1. Loosen wheel nuts. Raise the car, put it on stands, remove the front wheel.

2. Loosen, but do not remove, the top three strut-to-body cup mounting nuts (see picture).



3. Remove the steering knuckle as described in section 8.

4. Disconnect the linkage of the stabilizer bar from the bracket (see figure 2.2).

5. Loosen the top three nuts securing the rack to the cup, while supporting the rack so that it does not fall (figure 6.2).

6. Carefully slide the stand out of the wheel opening. If the shock absorber block is to be changed, see section 7 and disconnect the coil spring.

Installation


7. To install the stand, position it so that the studs pass through the cup. Tighten the nuts by hand.

8. Install the steering knuckle, tightening all fasteners to specification torques.

9. Connect the linkage of the stabilizer bar to the rack, tighten the nuts to the required tightening torque.

10. Tighten to the required torque the top three nuts securing the rack to the cup.

11. Put the wheel, lower the car. Tighten the wheel nuts to the required torque.
