Wheel fist — removal and installation

Warning: If suspension or steering fasteners are lost or unscrewed, they must be replaced with new ones, do not reuse them. Fasteners are replaced with new ones of the same design, quality and marking.

Withdrawal


1. Loosen the wheel nuts, raise the vehicle, put it on stands Block the front wheels and remove the rear wheel.

2. Remove the rear brake drum hub assembly (see chapter 9).

3. Unscrew the bracket supporting the brake hose from the rack (see figure 11.5).

4. Unscrew the four bolts that secure the brake shield to the knuckle. Detach the brake shield and hang it on the wire. In this case, it is not necessary to disconnect the parking brake cable from the brake shield (see pictures).



5. Loosen but do not remove the pinch bolt between knuckle and post (see picture).



6. Unscrew the nuts securing the lever to the knuckle, then remove the levers from the bolts (see picture).




7. Loosen the rear tie rod nut. Hold the tie rods with a wrench on flat surfaces. Remove washer and rubber pad (see figure 14.3).

8. Unscrew the previously loosened pinch bolt between the shaft and the column, supporting the shaft so that it does not fall.

9. Move the shaft back enough to access the power rack, then remove it from the rack (see picture) The control arm bolts can now be replaced.



Installation


10. Check the thrust pads for cracks and wear. Replace if necessary.

11. Attach the knuckle to the end of the tie rod, then slide it onto the strut, aligning the notch on the tie rod with the ear of the strut. Insert a new pinch bolt between the knuckle and the strut. tighten it by hand


12. Install outer tie rod pad, washer and new nut. Do not tighten the nut.

13. Slide the levers onto the knuckle bolts. Tighten the nuts by hand.

14. Place a jack under the fist and raise it to normal height.

15. Tighten the knuckle to strut bolt to the required torque.

16. Tighten the large tie rod nut to the required torque.

17. Tighten the lever nuts to the required torque.

18. Attach the brake shield to the knuckle, securely tighten the four bolts.

19. Screw the brake hose bracket to the stand. Do not damage the piping by bending it into place.

20. Install the hub brake drum assembly (chapter 9).

21. Put the wheel, tighten the support nuts.

22. Lower the car and tighten nuts to the demanded moment of an inhaling.
