Valve seals — removal and installation

	Valve stem cotter installer 303-362 (21-156)
	Air adapter (to the cylinder head) 303-363 (21-157)
	Valve Spring Compressor 303-461 (21-194)

	Pliers for valve stem seals 303-508 (21-211)

Withdrawal

1. Remove the valve lifter. For more information, refer to the Valve lifters chapter - found in this section.

2. Using a special tool, apply compressed air to the appropriate cylinder at a pressure of approximately 7-10 bar.



3. Using the special tools, remove the inlet valve stem cotters.



4. Using the special tools, remove the exhaust valve stem cotters.



5. Remove the valve springs and springs.

6. Using the special tool, remove the valve stem seals. Discard the oil seals as they are no longer needed.

Installation

NOTE: Install new valve stem seals.

Reinstall the elements in reverse order.
