Valve Seals — Removal and Installation (Focus 1)

Special tool

	Adapter for 303-035 (Support blocks) 303-035-01 (21-005B-01)
	Valve stem cracker installation tool 303-362 (21-156)
	Air Supply Adapter (to Cylinder Head) 303-363 (21-157)
	Valve Spring Compressor 303-461 (21-194)
	Adapter for 303-461 303-461-01 (21-194-01)
	Valve stem seal pliers 303-508 (21-211)

Removal

1. Remove the valve lifter. For more information, refer to the Valve Lifters chapter in this section.

2. Using a special tool, supply compressed air to the appropriate cylinder at a pressure of approximately 7-10 bar.



3. Using special tools, remove the intake valve stem crackers.



4. Using special tools, remove the exhaust valve stem crackers.





5. Remove the valve spring retainers and springs.

6. Using a special tool, remove the valve stem seals. Discard the stem seals as they are no longer needed.

Installation

1.

NOTE: Install new valve stem seals.

Install the elements back in place in reverse order.
