Rear crankshaft seal — removal and installation

Withdrawal

1. Remove the oil pan. For more information, refer to the Oil Sump chapter found in this section.

2. Remove the crankshaft rear seal retainer. Discard the crankshaft rear oil seal retainer as it is no longer needed.

Installation

1.

CAUTION: Do not remove the plastic mounting sleeve before installation.

NOTE: Install a new crankshaft rear oil seal retainer.

NOTE: A new rear oil seal carrier is shipped with a mounting sleeve that must be removed after installation.

NOTE: Do not touch the dust collecting tab and the sealing tab.

NOTE: The sealing lug must not be coated with oil.

NOTE: Make sure the dowel pins are installed correctly.

Install the crankshaft rear seal retainer. Discard the mounting sleeve as it is no longer needed.



2. Install the oil pan. For more information, refer to the Oil Sump chapter found in this section.
