Rear Crankshaft Seal — Removal and Installation

Removal

1. Remove the oil pan. For more information, refer to the Oil Pan chapter in this section.

2. Remove the crankshaft rear oil seal holder. Discard the crankshaft rear oil seal holder as it is no longer needed.

Installation

1.

CAUTION: Do not remove the plastic mounting sleeve before installation.

NOTE: Install a new crankshaft rear oil seal retainer.

NOTE: The new rear oil seal retainer is supplied assembled with a mounting sleeve that must be removed after installation.

NOTE: Do not touch the dust collection tab and sealing tab.

NOTE: The sealing lip must not be coated with oil.

NOTE: Make sure the locating pins are installed correctly.

Install the crankshaft rear seal retainer. Discard the installation sleeve as it is no longer needed.



2. Install the oil pan. For more information, refer to the Oil Pan chapter in this section.
