- Knock the old ring out of the flange. Carefully install the new sealing ring into the flange after it has been remounted. The sealing lips should be lightly greased and facing inwards;

- fit the flange with the new seal to the cylinder block and align it properly with the edge of the cylinder block as described when installing the crankshaft (see also Fig. 92). A round disc that is screwed to the flange as shown in Fig. 95 with a sealing ring underneath works best here;

- install the oil pan.
The rear oil seal ring can also be replaced with the engine installed on the vehicle (see description below).
Front crankshaft oil seal
The oil seal ring on the front end of the cylinder block can be replaced with the engine installed in the vehicle.
