Rear seal ring and crankshaft flange

Replace in the following order:

- Knock out the old ring from the flange. Carefully fit the new O-ring into the flange after it has been remounted. The seal lips should be lightly greased and point inward;

- install the flange with the new seal on the cylinder block and align it properly to the edge of the cylinder block as described when installing the crankshaft (see also fig. 92). Here, a round disk is best suited, which is screwed to the flange, as shown in fig. 95, with o-ring underneath;

- Establish the oil pallet.

The rear seal ring can also be replaced on an engine installed on the vehicle (see description below).

Front crankshaft oil seal

The seal ring at the front end of the cylinder block can be replaced on a vehicle-mounted engine.
