To do this, you need to do the following:
- fix the dial indicator to the front of the cylinder head and block so that the measuring pin is adjacent to the end of the shaft being measured;
- move the camshaft by hand first in one direction, set the dial indicator to zero and move the shaft in the other direction.
The value shown by the indicator is the axial clearance, which should be 0.080–0.22 mm. If the axial clearance does not correspond to the required value, then the adjacent surface on the cylinder head or the shaft is worn out and it is necessary to determine the worn parts.
