Camshaft seals (manufactured before May 1998) (Mondeo 2)

Replace in the following order:

- provide access to the end of the camshaft so that the pulley of the corresponding shaft can be unscrewed and removed;

- unscrew the front bearing cover and remove the sealing ring;

- apply sealant mass to the detachable surfaces of the front bearing cover and put the cover back on. Alternately tighten the cover fasteners on the right and then on the left with a torque of 10 N·m and tighten again from the final position with a torque of 19 N·m;

- install a new oil seal on the camshaft, or better yet, press it in with a piece of pipe the same diameter as the sealing ring. Screw an M10 screw and a large washer onto the pipe to press the oil seal onto the shaft. Lubricate the sealing edges well;

- place the pulley on the camshaft. The pulley should rotate freely on the shaft;

- install and tension the toothed drive belt as described in the relevant subsection.
