Removal


Remove the oil pan. Remove the crankshaft pulley.

The engine is manufactured using a common chain cover gasket and water pump gasket. Drain the coolant and remove the water pump.

On Endura-E engines, disconnect the camshaft position sensor wiring multi-pin connector.

Unscrew the mounting bolts and use a lever to remove the chain cover. Clean the mating surfaces of the cover and the engine.

Replace the front crankshaft oil seal if necessary.

Installation


Lightly lubricate the front end of the crankshaft and the working lips of the front crankshaft oil seal ring (installed in the cover). Install the gasket and cover, and secure with bolts. One of the bolts, which also secures the water pump, must be tightened after installing the water pump.

On Endura-E engines, reconnect the camshaft position sensor multi-pin connector. Install the water pump. Install the crankshaft pulley. Install the oil pan.
