Removal


WARNING: Do not smoke or carry a lighted cigarette or open flame of any type when working on or near fuel-related components. Highly flammable mixtures are always present in such situations and may ignite. Failure to follow these instructions may result in injury.


1. Relieve fuel system pressure. Refer to Section 310-00 for additional information.

2. Disconnect the ground cable from the battery. For additional information, refer to Section 414-01.

3. Disconnect the fuel supply and return line quick release couplings. Refer to Section 310-00 for additional information.

4. Disconnect the air cleaner outlet pipe from the throttle body.

5. Disconnect the accelerator cable from the throttle body and place it aside.


  • 1. Disconnect the outer casing of the accelerator cable from the throttle body bracket.
  • 2. Disconnect the inner accelerator cable from the throttle body lever.

6. Disconnect the brake booster vacuum line from the intake manifold.

7. Disconnect the positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) hose from the intake manifold. Release the coolant hose from the clamp.

12. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Section 100-02 for additional information.



13. Remove the lower intake manifold mounting bolts.

14. Lower the vehicle.

Installation


1.
NOTE: Install a new intake manifold gasket if necessary.

2. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Section 100-02 for additional information.

3. Install the lower intake manifold mounting bolts (engine shown removed for clarity).
