Removing and installing the intake manifold (Escort 5)

Removal

Drain the coolant from the cooling system. Remove the carburetor. Label and disconnect the coolant, vacuum and ventilation hoses from the manifold.



Disconnect the electrical connectors from the sensors in the intake manifold.

Unscrew the bolts and remove the manifold from the cylinder head. Remove the gasket.

Clean the mating surfaces of the intake manifold and cylinder head from traces of the old gasket.

Installation

Installation is performed in the reverse order of removal. Install a new gasket and tighten the mounting bolts to the required torque.
