Removing and installing the air filter and intake silencer

The air filter is removed to gain access to other units in the engine compartment and if damaged.

You will need: keys «for 8», «on 10» (more comfortable socket heads), flat blade screwdriver.

To remove the air filter do the following.



1. Loosen the clamp securing the air inlet sleeve to the air filter..



2.... and disconnect the sleeve from the filter nozzle.

NOTE: Please note that there are triangular marks on the air filter nozzle and on the edge of the air supply sleeve for correct installation of the sleeve. When attaching the sleeve to the air filter, align these marks.

3. Loosen the clamp securing the air supply hose to the throttle assembly..



4.... and, having disconnected from the nozzle of the throttle assembly..



5.... remove the sleeve.

NOTE: We recommend removing the air inlet sleeve for ease of use. However, this is not necessary when removing the air filter.

6. Prying off with a screwdriver, lift up the clamp of the block of the wiring harness of the mass air flow sensor..



7.... and disconnect the block from the sensor.



8. Pulling the filter up, remove the mounting pins on its bottom from the two rubber pads mounted on the bracket, remove the bracket rubber pad in the front of the filter housing from the pin on the body, while removing the filter inlet pipe from the intake silencer neck..




9... lifting the filter, disconnect the hose of the crankcase ventilation system from the fitting on its body, squeezing the hose clamps, and remove the filter.



10. Replace hardened or damaged air filter mounting pads by removing them from the bracket holes.

11. Install the air filter in the reverse order of removal.

In this photo and in the step-by-step photos below in this subsection, for clarity, the left front fender and front bumper are removed. Although the muffler mounting bolts are difficult to access, the fender and bumper do not need to be removed. To remove the intake silencer, do the following.


1. Remove the left front wheel and place the front of the vehicle on a secure stand.

2. Remove the left front fender liner (cm. «Removal and installation of wheel mudguards and fender liner»).



3. Turn out bolts of forward …



4.... rear..



5.... and side mounts of the intake silencer..



6.... and remove the muffler by removing its neck from the inlet pipe of the air filter housing.

7. Install the intake silencer and all removed parts in the reverse order of removal.
