Replacing the fuel pressure pulsation compensator (Focus 2)

The fuel pressure pulsation compensator is installed at the end of the fuel rail and serves to maintain constant fuel pressure in the rail when there is a sharp drop in the fuel line, caused, for example, by a significant increase in fuel consumption during intensive acceleration of the vehicle.

You will need an 8mm socket head.

1. Remove the two bolts securing the fuel pressure pulsation compensator…

2. …and remove the compensator from its socket in the fuel rail.

NOTE: The compensator is sealed in the fuel rail socket with a rubber ring.

NOTE: …and remove it from the compensator body. Replace any ring that is too compressed, hardened or torn.

NOTE: Pay attention to the marking of the compensator. Purchase a compensator with the same marking.


3. Install the fuel pressure pulsation compensator in the reverse order of removal.
