Removal and installation of the throttle assembly

            0

Signs of a throttle that is not fully closing can be increased idling speed and fuel consumption, and signs of a throttle that is not fully opening - the engine does not develop full power, insufficient engine throttle response, jerks and dips in engine operation when the car is moving. Throttle valve fouling from blow-by deposits usually results in erratic idling. The throttle valve drive is electric, it is controlled by the electronic unit of the engine control system. Repairs to the actuator require special equipment and qualified personnel. If these problems occur, first try flushing the throttle valve (e.g. thinner or special aerosol carburettor cleaner). If this does not lead to a positive result, replace the throttle assembly.

You will need: T30 TORX wrench, Phillips screwdriver.

1. Disconnect the wire from the terminal «minus» battery.

2. Slide up the wire harness retainer..

3.... and disconnect the block from the cover of the throttle assembly.

4. Remove the four screws securing the throttle assembly to the intake pipe..

5.... remove the throttle assembly..

6.... and an o-ring installed under its flange.

NOTE: Replace a badly compressed, hardened, or torn O-ring.

7. If the throttle assembly was not removed for replacement, clean the contaminated throttle assembly with carburetor cleaner.

8. Remove oil and other contaminants from the cavity of the inlet pipe.

9. Install the throttle assembly in the reverse order of removal.

NOTE: Pay attention to the labeling of the throttle assembly. Purchase a throttle assembly with the same marking.
