Removing and installing the air filter and intake noise muffler (Mondeo 4)

You will need: flat-head and Phillips-head screwdrivers.

1. Remove the air filter element (see Replacing the Air Filter Element).

2. Loosen the clamp securing the supply hose to the intake silencer pipe and remove the hose.

3. Loosen the clamp securing the air supply hose to the throttle body pipe…

4….and remove the hose.

5. Disconnect the crankcase ventilation hose tip from the filter housing by squeezing its fastening clamps…

6….and remove the air filter housing.

6….and remove the air filter housing.


7. The intake noise muffler is mounted on the wall of the battery mounting shelf. To remove it, remove the shelf (see Removing and installing the battery mounting shelf) and disconnect the muffler from it by unscrewing the screws that secure it.

8. Install the parts in the reverse order of removal.
