The parking brake system is cable actuated and controlled by an independent hand brake lever.
The parking brake system acts on the rear wheel drum or disc brake system as follows:
- On vehicles with drum brakes on the rear wheels, an independent hand brake lever actuates the rear brake shoes directly via a cable system.
- On vehicles with rear disc brakes, the parking brake lever actuates the rear brake calipers via a cable and a rear caliper lever with an integrated cam. The pawl located inside the rear brake caliper rotates the piston adjusting screw, thereby compensating for lining wear.
Apply the parking brake lever several times to adjust the cable.
